Atomic Activity in North Korea Raises Concerns

An article was posted on The New York Times website about a half an hour ago that says that the United States has recieved intelligence reports stating that North Korea could be ready to have its first test of a nuclear weapon. This is the link
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/12/international/asia/12nuke.html?hp just copy and paste. What do you guys think about this?

I was just about to post on this same article. If this intelligence turns out to be true and North Korea does in fact successfully test a nuclear weapon, there would be serious shockwaves in the US and the rest of the world. Especially in the proximity of the election, this could sway the results.

But why should we find this intelligence any more credible than any other intelligence?

Hahaha, I came on to post that Yahoo article too! It's funny that four of us are doing this late on a Saturday night :)

Anyway, this story sounds scary. Sightings of mushroom clouds aren't exactly an everyday occurence......That is what seperates this from the usual North Korean rhetoric. It will be interesting (and scary) to see just what this was.
