Korean Central News Agency: The North Korea Perspective on World News

A news report issued yesterday by the Korean Central News Agency, the official state-run North Korean news agency, claimed the general secretary of the Greek Communist Party had openly defended North Korea and its socialist cause:

Korean People's Struggle Supported in Greece

Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- Aleka Papariga, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece, on June 5 met and had a talk with a delegation of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) on a visit to his country.
The general secretary said that the Communist Party of Greece would fully support the struggle of the WPK and the people of the DPRK in the future, too.
The most important task facing the international socialist movement at present is for communist and workers parties of different countries to learn from the experience of the WPK firmly defending socialism at the outpost of the anti-imperialist struggle and take joint steps in supporting the Korean people's just cause, she added.

Interestingly enough, I found no evidence of such a meeting in any other sources, including the Greek Communist Party’s website (http://inter.kke.gr/News/).

The language in the clearly fabricated N Korean story is fascinating, particularly the last line “joint steps in supporting the Korean people's just cause.” I encourage you all to further browse the Korean website as it gives a good glimpse of the everyday propaganda that circulates throughout the country.
